Happy Valentine's Day
CLUB
HAPPENINGS:
CLUB
MEMBERSHIP SOCIAL:
The original date we planned for
this event had to be cancelled due to the January 26th snowstorm. The new date
for this special meeting is February 23rd. It is still not too late to invite a
perspective member to this meeting. We will have an interesting speaker on the
subject of community service. Remember our club has decided to wave the $25
initiation fee during this Lions year. Just remember to let our Membership
Chairman, Lion Dick, know of the prospective member and Lion Jim know so he has
the correct meal count.
Lion Larry's Thank you:
I want to thank the club for the beautiful flower
arrangement. President Tom personally delivered them to the house the day I was
discharged from the hospital. I also want to thank the club members for all the
get well cards I received and also for the many offers to help in any way
during my recovery here at home.
Other than a touch of cabin fever, I'm doing really good. I
still have to cool it for another four weeks. Doctors orders and nurse Sylvia
has been making sure I listen.
Thank you all, Larry

Governor*s Message
Lions, Leos and Lioness,
This year I will continue with the One Hundred Percent
Contribution Club Award. However, the award this year will be a pin; that will
be available to every club member, whose club is a one-hundred percent
contributor. Contributions will be based on the club*s membership as of July 1,
2003 and must meet the contribution schedule of sixty dollars per member and a
Ride for Sight sponsorship and a Beacon Lodge Campership; in lieu of the Beacon
Lodge Campership, they must sponsor both the Girls and Boys Seminars at Beacon
Lodge. The pin itself will be a small version of the current District pin.
Clubs will receive the pin at the Presidents Honor Night, if their
contributions are in by then. If not, the late clubs will receive theirs later,
as long as the contributions are received prior to June 30, 2004. Clubs that
are one hundred percent will have one hundred percent by the Club name on the
contribution page of the District Newsletter. If you are not sure that you are
a one-hundred percent club, or you think that you are one, and it is not shown,
then contact the District Governor.
The State PEACE POSTER CONTEST WINNERS by District are:
First Place, District 14-P; Second Place, District 14-G; and Third Place,
District 14-M. Honorable Mention went to the following Districts: 14-R and
14-N. The poster from District 14-P was sent to Lions Clubs International for
further competition. Thanks to all those Clubs in our District who entered.
PRESIDENTS HONOR NIGHT
Presidents Honor Night will be held on APRIL 16, 2004,
at Yoders
Restaurant in New Holland, PA. Seating reservations will
be on a FIRST RECEIVED basis. Reservation form is in this issue of the District
Newsletter. The old saying goes here also, the Early Lion, gets the best seat,
so don*t delay in getting your Club*s reservation in as soon as possible, the
form may be duplicated. Checks must accompany the reservation or it will not be
honored.
Don*t forget, Saturday, April 17, 2004 is the District
Convention at Cedar Crest Middle School in Lebanon, PA. Some highlights, we
will be taking part in The Lions World Wide Induction Day. So bring new members
and their sponsors and any other lions who may want to re-do their induction,
this will be possible. Please notify the District Governor as soon as possible,
prior to the convention, as to how many will participate. We will finish up the
convention with artist, Elva Hurst, doing the Lions Story in chalk art. This in
itself is a very worthwhile program that you would not want to miss.
SO BE SURE TO COME OUT TO THE DISTRICT CONVENTION.
Yours in Lionism,
D.G. Eleanor
